Jaime K. Olin is a seasoned patent litigator and trial attorney with significant experience across a broad range of technologies. She focuses on strategy, implementation, and presentation at the district court level, helping her clients protect their intellectual property rights from initial diligence through settlement or trial.
Jaime currently focuses her practice on patent litigation, along with handling other intellectual property disputes and advising clients on litigation and licensing strategy. She has tried six patent cases to verdict in jury and bench trials, in technology areas as diverse as computer software, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and audio and video coding. Most recently, Jaime served as case manager and technical lead on a 2024 trial that resulted in a $242 million verdict, the third-largest patent verdict in Delaware history. Jaime also has commercial litigation experience in state and federal courts, including trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, unfair competition, consumer fraud, and employment discrimination claims. Jaime is known for her strategic and creative thinking and problem-solving, as well as her organizational and management skills.
As an undergraduate, Jaime focused on biology and chemistry coursework, graduating from the Honors College of the Florida state system with a dual major in Biopsychology and Animal Cognition. Following her graduation from University of Michigan Law School in 2006, where she participated in the Campbell Moot Court competition and founded and ran the school’s Student Animal Legal Defense Fund chapter, Jaime started her career at Fish & Richardson in San Diego, practicing high-stakes patent litigation. Since relocating to Texas in 2009, Jaime’s practice has spanned patent litigation and complex commercial litigation with noted boutique firms, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state courts.
Jaime also maintains an active pro bono practice focusing on animal law and policy. In her former role as Legal Advocacy Counsel for the ASPCA, Jaime provided “second chair” trial assistance to prosecutors handling criminal animal cruelty cases across the country, along with helping to develop the ASPCA’s animal protection litigation section. She now puts these skills to use as Board Vice President and Legislative Chair of the Texas Humane Legislation Network, where she drafts and reviews legislation, testifies at committee hearings, and presents on various animal law topics across the state. Jaime is also committee vice-chair, clinical instructor, and volunteer judge for the Texas High School Mock Trial Competition.
