Stris & Maher proudly served as lead Supreme Court counsel for the City of Seattle in ERIC v. City of Seattle, a case about the scope of ERISA preemption.
After the U.S. Supreme Court called for a response to ERIC’s petition, we collaborated with our colleagues at Keller Rohrback (who led the successful lower-court proceedings) to prepare and file an opposition brief (Our Brief). The Court thereafter called for the views of the Solicitor General, who recommended denying the petition. Today, the Court denied the petition, leaving our client’s earlier victory intact. The outcome was covered by Reuters, Law360, and other major publications.
