On March 21, 2018, we sued the National Enquirer’s parent company, American Media Inc. (AMI), on behalf of our client Karen McDougal. The litigation made the front page of the New York Times. Hours later, Peter Stris appeared on all three network morning shows and select cable television.
The following day, we prepared Karen to tell her story in a live, 1-hour primetime interview.
AMI launched a media counteroffensive. So we went back on the airwaves.
AMI hired the former Chairman of the Federal Election Commission, who challenged our case on First Amendment grounds. But under the pressure of our litigation and media offensive, AMI crumbled, giving Karen all the relief we had asked to court to award.
In the months that followed, a fuller picture emerged confirming all of our allegations.
