Stris & Maher Files Lawsuit Against the City of San Clemente for Discriminating Against Substance Abuse Patients
Sovereign Health Group, one of the largest independent behavioral treatment networks in the nation, has long had a presence in Southern California. Several cities, however, have illegally targeted providers like Sovereign, pursuing zoning or other regulatory action intended to drive behavioral health providers out of town. After San Clemente did that and more—telling Sovereign it would issue no permit of any type to any business affiliated with Sovereign, including a “hot dog stand”—Sovereign was forced to file suit to protect its rights, as well as the rights of its patients.
