Today, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear Merrill Lynch v. Manning, a securities fraud class action involving the practice of naked short selling. Peter Stris will argue the case, likely in December or January.
This is the third Stris & Maher case that the Court has agreed to hear next Term. In March, the Court granted a petition filed by Stris & Maher in Montanile v. Board of Trustees of the National Elevator Plan, an important ERISA case that will be argued by Mr. Stris in November. And then, just yesterday, the Court granted another petition filed by Stris & Maher in Gobeille v. Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, a major healthcare preemption case that will be argued by Bridget Asay.
