Jhaniel James is an experienced litigator who focuses on intellectual property disputes. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Prior to joining Stris, Jhaniel clerked for the Honorable Erica P. Grosjean of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California and the Honorable Janice A. Taylor of the Supreme Court of the State of New York. She also held the position of Special Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Administrative Law Division of the New York City Law Department.
Jhaniel received her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, where she was a member of the University of Illinois Law Review. During law school, she served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Harold Baer Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. She also served as a research assistant in the area of patent law and policy. Jhaniel received her B.S. from Cornell University.
